Social infrastructure in Haabersti keeps pace with the housing boom
According to real estate portals, Haabersti continues to have more new apartments for sale than other areas in Tallinn. In December, changes were implemented in the public transport network to meet the needs of new residents, bringing newly developed areas closer to the city center.
Rainer Hinno, a member of the management board of the real estate developer Favorte, considers the extension of bus route No. 62 to the heart of the Rehelepa residential area a major step forward. "We have always envisioned creating a comprehensive living and business environment in the Mäeküla area that would be attractive to both families and businesses providing services to them," said Hinno.
"More and more homebuyers prefer the tranquility of nature and a safe neighborhood over the hustle and bustle of the city. Rehelepa is shaping up to be a pleasant blend of modern conveniences, transportation connections, and a slower pace of life," he characterized the values of families moving to the suburbs.
According to Tallinn Deputy Mayor Kristjan Järvan, it is important that new development areas quickly establish services that make the city feel more like home.
"The extension of an existing bus route to the Rehelepa residential area is undoubtedly a good example of how the city's development and public transport network should go hand in hand. I wish Rehelepa’s new residents wonderful years in their new homes," said Järvan.

A total of three bus stops were created as part of the residential area's infrastructure. "With more residents moving into the area, we can expect the bus network to expand to Tähetorni Street and further into the Nõmme area," added Favorte's board member.
Bus route No. 62 also passes through the Tähetorni Tehnopark, developed by Favorte, where 32 different businesses have already signed rental agreements. The range of products and services offered is broad, spanning from eco-friendly cleaning products and health products to car maintenance and printing services.
The first 36 apartments in the Rehelepa residential area, located at Rehelepa põik 2//4, were completed in November. Another apartment building, located at Rehelepa Street 10//12, is set to be finished at the beginning of the new year. The buildings were designed by architect Aigar Roht of the architectural firm Korrus OÜ.
In the coming years, 334 apartments will be developed in the Rehelepa residential area, with a total investment of 55 million euros. Nearly two hectares of green areas will be equipped with diverse sports and playgrounds, as well as recreational facilities, fostering community interaction and a sense of belonging.
